Uniroyal’s engineers discovered that one reason why a shark can be so fast is that it has tiny scales like interlocking teeth on its skin and this helps it get smoothly and efficiently through the water with minimal drag. On a normal tyre where the walls of the grooves are flat, the water from puddles or wet surfaces creates eddies and turbulence which in turn creates drag. But on the Uniroyal RainSport 3 and RainExpert 3 tyres the grooves have ‘skin surfaces’ so the water moves through them freely and quickly, meaning it is dispersed faster so the tyre grips better, is less vulnerable to aquaplaning and saves you fuel in the process.
